Please remember that this Privacy Policy does not apply to
the practices of companies that we do not own or control or to people that we
do not employ or manage. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of
each and every website that you accessed through our Site that collects
information about you. Our privacy policy applies solely to information we
collected as a result of your use of our Site.
COLLECTION AND USE OF YOUR
INFORMATION
We collect Your Information at various points when you use our Site. We use the
data that we collect to tailor your experience on the Site, showing content
that we think you might be interested in, and displaying the content according
to your preferences. Please note that IDTHEFT DOES NOT KNOWINGLY COLLECT OR
MAINTAIN INFORMATION ON THE SITE FROM THOSE UNDER AGE 13, AND NO PART OF THE
SITE IS INTENDED FOR USE BY THOSE UNDER AGE 13. OUR SITE IS PRIMARILY DESIGNED
FOR USE BY THOSE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD.
1. When You "Surf" the Site
Log Files
Like most standard website servers, we use and maintain the information that we
obtain from your browser on our server logs. This information can include
Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider
("ISP"), and other data. We may use this information to analyze trends,
administer the Site, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad
demographic information for aggregate use. We may associate this information
with your Personal Information to resolve technical issues and support security
for our users.
Cookies
A cookie is a small piece of data that is stored in a browser-related file on
your computer's hard drive when you use the Site. Cookies are uniquely assigned
to your computer, and are read by a web server in the domain that issued the
cookie to you. Our primary use of cookies is to improve your experience on our
Site. For example, storing a cookie on your computer may allow you to login
without retyping the entire registered e-mail address or registration number
and password. We also use cookies to deliver information and fresh content
specific to your interests. If you do not want these cookies stored on your
computer you can reject cookies by modifying your browser setting accordingly
(Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser
to learn how to change your cookie preferences). Please also note that certain
types of emails available through the Site may automatically log you into the
Site and/or set new cookies when you click on the links in the emails and that
you may need to manually remove such cookies if you do not want them to be set
on your computer. See section titled "Third Party Ad Servers" below
for additional information about cookies.
Web Beacons
A web beacon (also known as a clear gif) is a tiny graphic with a unique
identifier that is placed on a web page or within an email. It is similar in
function to a cookie, and is used to collect a limited set of information, such
as a cookie number, time and date of page view, and a description of the page
on which the web beacon resides. IDTheft and its third party advertisers may
use web beacons to compile aggregate statistics about which advertisements and
promotions users have seen and how users responded to them. This information
helps us better manage content on the Site by informing us what content is
effective. In addition, we may use web beacons in our promotional e-mail
messages to count how many messages and which emails have been opened and acted
upon. This use allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and
our marketing campaigns. IDTheft associates web beacons to individual user
personal information for internal purposes only, in an effort to understand our
users' individual preferences with our email products.
2. When You Purchase a Product or Service From IDTheft
If you choose to purchase an IDTheft product or service, you will be required
to provide us with certain contact information, including your name, e-mail
address and billing address. We also require other information necessary to
process your payment (such as a credit card number and expiration date). We may
use the information that you provide to us to bill you for products and
services you request, or to notify you of additional products and services we
may offer. When you purchase products or services on our Site you are
consenting to our delivery of this information to our service providers, which
may include banks and credit card companies that we use to process the
transaction. For more information please see the section below regarding
"Service Providers".
SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
1. Confidentiality
IDTheft only shares Your Information with others when we have your permission,
or under the types of circumstances described in this Privacy Policy. In
addition, we limit access to Your Information to only those employees who we
believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide
products or services to you or to do their jobs.
2. Third Party Offers
We may allow other companies to offer you products and services, including
offers through our Site, co-branded pages hosted by the Third Party or via
email. Whether or not you decide to participate in such an offer is up to you.
If you purchase a product or service on a co-branded page, or via a third party
offer on our Site, that requires you to submit financial and personal
information, you are also consenting to our delivery of this information to
that party. The offer will notify you if any financial or personally
identifiable information will be shared. Such third party will be authorized to
use this information in keeping with our contractual relationship with them and
in accordance with their own privacy policy and information practices. We do
not control these third parties and you agree that IDTheft is not liable for
their acts, or any failure to act on their part.
3. Third Party Advertising
The advertisements that appear on our Site are generally delivered through
internal software operated by IDTheft. As noted above, we may use Your
Information to provide you with advertisements that are targeted to your
specific needs and interests. These advertisements may link directly to third
party websites. IDTheft has no control over the content or privacy policies of
such sites, and therefore we encourage you to review such content and policies
prior to submitting any personal information to them. We do share certain
aggregate information, such as demographic information and the number of times
that our users have viewed an advertisement, with our third party advertisers.
This information is not linked with any personally identifiable information,
and we do not provide any such information to third party advertisers.
IDTheft may use aggregated, statistical information to describe our user
profile and to establish advertising and other business relationships with
third parties. IDTheft may serve you with targeted advertisements based on your
personal and/or profile information, but IDTheft does not provide any of this
personal and/or profile information to an advertiser or any third party with
the exception of those uses expressly disclosed in this policy. However, if you
click or view an ad on our site then you consent to the likelihood that the
advertiser will assume that you meet the targeting criteria, if any, used to display
such ad, and as described above, you will be subject to the advertiser's
privacy policy and information collection practices (if any).
4. Third Party Ad Servers
Most of the online banner advertisements you see on the IDTheft Site are
delivered by IDTheft. IDTheft does allow other companies, called third party ad
servers or ad networks, to display advertisements on the IDTheft Site. Some of
these ad networks may place a persistent cookie on your computer. Doing this
allows them to recognize your computer each time they send you an online
advertisement. In this way, ad networks may compile information about where
you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and
determine which ads are clicked on. This information allows an ad network to
deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to
you. IDTheft does not have access to or control over the cookies that may be
placed by these parties on your computer, and has no control over these
parties' privacy policies or information collection practices (if any).
5. Service Providers
We may sometimes use a third party to provide specific services on our behalf,
including sending e-mails to our users and customers, processing transactions between
IDTheft and its customers, or providing some or all of the service or product
purchased. In these cases, we may provide certain personal information, such as
your name and e-mail address and other financial information necessary for the
service to be provided. However, these third parties are required to maintain
the confidentiality of this information and are prohibited from retaining,
sharing, storing or using this information for any other purposes.
6. Business Transitions
In the event that IDTheft goes through a business transition, such as a merger,
acquisition, liquidation or sale of all or a portion of its assets, our users'
personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets
transferred.
7. Legal Disclosure
We may disclose Your Information if required to do so by law or in the good
faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to applicable law, comply
with a judicial proceeding, court order or legal process served on IDTheft or its
Site, protect and defend the rights or property of IDTheft, or investigate,
prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud,
situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or
violations of our Terms and Conditions.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM IDTHEFT
It is our policy to send you only the types of e-mail that you elect to receive
or we are obligated to send to provide services you have purchased, in addition
to our customary business communications (e.g., e-mail address confirmation,
new product offerings, administrative messages, other offline communications,
etc.). With the exception of e-mails sent to you as required by us to provide
to you the services you have purchased, you generally will be given the
opportunity to "opt out" of receiving further similar e-mail communications.
THE SECURITY OF YOUR INFORMATION
We have instituted physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to store and
maintain Your Information in a secure environment. However, while we have
implemented safeguards, you should be aware that Internet security technology
rapidly changes. We cannot guarantee that the safeguards we employ today can fully
protect Your Information from threats created by tomorrow's technology. You also
should be aware that despite our efforts, factors beyond our control may result
in disclosure of Your Information. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee that your
information will be secure under all circumstances.
CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY
IDTheft may update this policy from time to time as our information practices are
modified or changed. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the
latest information on our privacy practices.
